Medication Nurse (North Denver, CO)

Behavioral Health Group has an immediate opening for a fulltime Medication Nurse for their adult outpatient substance abuse treatment center in Boulder. Candidate must have current LPN license and IV Certified, CPR certification, excellent phlebotomy skills and be able to pass a background check completed by the employer. This is an early morning position- 4:45 a.m. -- 1:15 p.m. Monday - Friday and rotating Saturdays 5:45 -- 9:30 a.m. Please reply to this message with your resume attached or fax to 816-431-2794. EOE
Duties & Responsibilities:
•Orients newly admitted clients to the requirements of the medication room and effects of medication as it applies to the patient.
•Observes the patient new to methadone medication after the initial dose is administered unless another nurse or physician is present.
•Participates in treatment team meetings and QI Meetings as required, providing information and observations.
•Maintains accurate medication accountability records, documents and notifies discrepancies immediately to the Program Director, and the President & COO. Assures medication orders are signed when orders are taken verbally. Assures all orders and observations are documented in patient's chart. Files medication related paperwork in patient's charts.
•Receives medication shipments following DEA and facility procedures.
•Prepares a daily census sheet showing admissions and discharges, number medicated, starting count, ending count and amount of medication dispensed each day.
•Familiar with and performs medical assistance when needed and as allowed by license.
•Other duties as directed by the Program Director
