This position is for 13-weeks with 40 hours per week and may lead to a permanent position. The tentative start date for this position is Monday February 13, 2012.
Hours are 10:45p - 7:15a working every other weekend.
CORRECTIONS NURSE provides nursing services to the inmate population housed in various correctional facilities. The Correctional Nurse works under the supervision of the corrections medical director, nursing director, and/or facility warden.
EDUCATION
RN: Graduate of an accredited Diploma, Associate or Baccalaureate School of Nursing.
Must have current RN Licensure, CPR, and TB Test.
Each applicant will be required to take a drug test and background check.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Documents accurately and completely services provided.
· Maintains confidentiality relative to patient care and facility practices in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act
and/or other applicable correctional standards.
·Communicates information effectively to appropriate personnel.
·Provides for health assessment of inmates' care needs.
·Orders nursing and other supplies as requested.
·Coordinates care with inmates' physicians, corrections physicians, and dentists.
·Follows correctional settings safety rules when interacting with inmate population.
·Provides direct nursing care to inmates, including medication administration.
·Provides required care while maintaining a safe, therapeutic environment.
