The Washoe Tribe Human Resources Department is currently accepting applications from all individuals who may be qualified to perform the
duties of the position described below:
Position Summary:
Under direct supervision the Registered Nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive preventive and therapeutic nursing care, laboratory services, counseling and teaching of the community and patients, guidance and training for nursing personnel and other clinic staff, and some aspects of clinic management in the ambulatory health care setting. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Provides patient care utilizing the nursing process.
• Screens the patient by obtaining preliminary health history
• Makes an assessment of the patient's condition recognizing the range of normal and the manifestations of common abnormalities.
• Determines the nature and urgency of the patient's condition and makes appropriate referrals to health care staff.
• Screens and assesses patients who are not physically present, but call in by phone.
• Determines the need to be seen and the urgency of the condition, arranges for necessary tests and procedures.
• Develops a care plan which includes a nursing diagnosis and an assessment of learning and counseling needs.
• Provides direct nursing care to patients, including measures designed to prevent complications and minimize disabilities.
• Assists physician/nurse practitioner with diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical procedures.
• With appropriate order or protocol, administers oral, rectal, ophthalmic, otic and parenteral medications and immunizations.
• Ability to perform venipuncture for introduction of intravenous (IV) therapy or therapeutic phlebotomy, maintain an IV line, administer IV medications and fluids, perform PICC, port or central line care, lab draw and infusions.
• Operates a variety of medical equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:
Registered Nurse with current unrestricted licensure in Nevada and experience in ambulatory care, acute care or home health. Must be Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support Certified, or ability to obtain certification within ninety (90) days of hire. Must possess and maintain a valid California or Nevada driver's license or capable of obtaining one within thirty-days (30) of employment. Must be able to be insurable by the Tribe's Driving Policy. Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background investigation. Must be insurable under the Tribe's Malpractice coverage.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee occasionally is required to operate a motor vehicle; stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment:
Work is generally performed in an office setting with a moderate noise level.
