JOB SUMMARY
Provides patient assessment and direct care on assigned nursing units.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists with patient assessment by obtaining vitals and collecting specimens; observing patient;monitoring blood glucose, intake and output, and other non-invasive monitoring.
Provides patient care such as feeding (including naso-gastric tube feeding), oral suctioning,changing non-sterile dressings, removing intravenous cannulas, applying external catheters,discontinuing catheters, bowel programs, applying anti-embolism and pneumatic stockings,transferring, applying restraints.
Assists patient with hygiene and grooming, passive range of motion exercises, incentive spirometry.
Responds to patient and family requests.
Provides additional patient care as appropriate to assigned unit as directed and within scope of practice.
Documents assessment and care in the medical record.
Reports changes and unexpected findings to RN.
Requirements:
EDUCATION/TRAINING (or equivalent)
High School Diploma
Certified Nursing Assistant --- OR -- nursing student who has completed medical-surgical clinical rotation as verified by transcript or letter from school of nursing
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS (with minimum requirements indicated as appropriate)
Good working knowledge of patient care
Good working knowledge of medical terminology.
Experience as a medical technician, nursing assistant, or EMT preferred.
CERTIFICATES AND/OR LICENSES
CNA certificate if not a nursing student
Current BLS within 3 months of hire

Location: Kansas City, MO
Compensation: $11.39 - $17.10 /Hour
