House Registered Nurse
at Rosehedge/Multifaith Works in Seattle, WA
POSITION CLOSES: Wednesday, February 8th or until filled.
REPORTS TO: Housing Director
COMPENSATION: Salary: $ DOE. Medical, Dental Benefits and Vacation and Sick Time.
WORKING HOURS: Mon - Fri
THE POSITION: The House Registered Nurse is the manager and supervisor for the entire House Team.
• The RN is responsible for;
o Resident admissions, conducting resident assessment, documentation, reevaluations and communication on behalf of all house residents.
o Working with primary health care providers to administer/ manage medications, assess effectiveness and side effects of medications and other treatments.
o Assessing the environmental safety for all residents and staff and for making/recommending any necessary changes.
o Establishing working relationships with individual Home Health Aides (HHA), as well as demonstrating the ability to oversee and evaluate individual HHAs.
o In collaboration with the Social Worker, developing and following the care plan for each resident and for providing guidance for residents and their support networks regarding the care plan.
o All changes and adjustments to the care plan are the co-responsibility of the RN and Social Worker, and include the documentation associated with all changes and plans.
• The RN assumes ultimate responsibility for the delivery of safe, adequate care for all House residents.
• As part of the supervisory responsibilities, the RN will manage all staff conflicts, facilitating resolutions when needed and consulting the clinical team for guidance in direction when necessary.
• As a member of the clinical supervisory team, the RN is responsible for attending all staff meetings, and providing support for all staff meetings and staff case conferencing as needed.
• The RN also provides support for residents with regard to pain management, symptom management, and medication management (administration, adverse reactions, therapeutic value, resident teaching); pathophysiology of HIV/AIDS diseases or other terminal/chronic illness; issues of death and dying; and normal and abnormal response to loss and grief.
o The RN is responsible for documenting all residents' conditions, recommendation for changes or referrals to other services and providing support to residents and their support systems regarding any changes or referrals.
o The RN will be in regular consultation with the clinical team to reevaluate all residents' care plans and suggest recommendations for change if necessary.
THE CANDIDATE:
Rosehedge/Multifaith Works seeks an ideal candidate who is passionate about AIDS care, housing services, drug and alcohol recovery and care, community engagement, and diversity. The ongoing work to determine what is best for each resident creates a continually changing dynamic within the relationships of the residents in each house and with housing volunteers and staff; flexible firmness is the key.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
• Current licensure for registered nurse in the state of Washington
• Current BLS
• Current First AID/CPR
• Possess strong triaging and problem solving skills and makes sound, independent decisions. Evidence of ability to problem-solve and make independent decisions
• Recognizes own limitations within the scope of role and seeks assistance appropriately
• Possess strong assessment and symptom management skills
• Utilizes skill and judgment in applying basic principles of professional nursing
• Ability to handle emergencies and triage situations
• Ability to act in a supervisory capacity over Home Health Aides and other staff
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, other health care professionals, residents/clients and families
• Presents self in a professional, confident and caring manner
• Advanced Computer skills: Office 2010, with professional experience in database charting
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience with HIV/AIDS, homeless population and heavy emphasis on mental health, chronic substance use populations preferred
• A demonstrated knowledge, experience, and interest in cultural, ethnic and spiritual diversity
• A developed personal system for self care
• Willingness to make a long-term commitment and adapt to flexible working hours, including evenings and weekends
• Willingness to make a minimum one-year commitment to Rosehedge/Multifaith Works
