Registered Nurse: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit-0.9 FTE Nights (Seattle, WA)

This 19-bed unit receives referrals from a 5 state region and provides quaternary care to neonates up to 44 weeks gestational age. It is unique from a traditional NICU as many of the patients have congenital diagnoses requiring specialized pre-operative and post-operative surgical care. Critically ill neonates with complex medical issues are also cared for in this unit. The all RN staff works closely with respiratory therapists, nutritionists, social workers, pharmacists and physicians to provide specialized care including nitric oxide, ECMO/ECLS (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation/Extracorporeal Life Support) and infant ground transport. One of the goals of the NICU is to provide a family centered care environment where parents are partners in care with our multidisciplinary team. The beautiful physical environment of mostly single rooms is comfortable and calming for the patients/families and maximizes developmental support for the infants. Minimum 2 years experience in level III NICU required. Current Washington State RN License required. Occasional overtime may be required.
As an integral member of the Health Care Team, the RN functions within the Scope of Practice as defined by Washington State, the ANA Scope and Standards for Pediatric Nursing Practice, and adheres to Seattle Children's policies/procedures and guidelines of care. Responsible for providing safe, family centered patient care. Using the Nursing Care Process, the RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care in a collaborative method with the patient and patient's family, significant others, and members of the health care team. May be required to provide supervision and delegation of tasks to Nurse Technicians, Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Medical Assistants, etc.., as defined by Washington State Nursing Commission's applicable WAC. Assists in meeting Seattle Children's strategic goals by incorporating the initiatives to support the strategic plans into the daily work, i.e. Continuous Performance Improvement (CPI), ART, etc.
Required: 5 years of current RN experience working in a level III NICU setting requiredCurrent Washington State RN License.Graduate of an accredited school of nursing Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Occasional overtime may be requiredPreferred: Bachelor's degree in Nursing. CCRN or RNC- neonatal specialty certification
