Registered Nurse -- St. Paul, MN
For 83 years, Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota (PPMNS) has been the leading provider of, educator, and advocate for confidential, affordable and quality reproductive health care and information across the region, serving more than 64,000 patients per year.
We are currently searching for a Registered Nurse to join our Vandalia Clinic in St. Paul, MN. Under immediate administrative supervision of the Clinic Manager the Clinic Nurse performs routine clinic duties associated with a reproductive health program within the scope of RN licensure. Provides excellent customer service. Performs related work as directed.
Some duties include, but are not limited to:
- Interview and screen patients, conduct patient history review, prepare patients for examinations/procedures.
- Perform routine laboratory tests including venipuncture. Communicate lab test results.
- Provide patient education including explanations of all FDA approved birth control methods.
- Inform patients in a non-directive manner about all options available to them in the event of an unintended pregnancy and make a referral for service based on the patients needs.
- Provide factual, non-biased information to clients seeking abortion. Describe the difference between medication and surgical abortion.
- Administer injections, contraceptive supplies, treatments and emergency medications.
- Assure inventory control of clinic and contraceptive supplies including ordering, stocking and tracking.
- As appropriate, assist with surgical procedures, monitor patient stability, and identify tissue. Supervise and assess patient's post procedure recovery.
- Follow all state laws regarding mandatory reporting.
- Comply with state laws governing abortion services.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required: Current MN RN license; current CPR certification (or obtained within six months of employment); effective communication skills; attention to detail and accuracy; strong customer service skills; computer skills; willingness and ability to travel; ability to maintain confidentiality; and ability to work with diverse populations. Willingness to work with volunteers.
Desired: Reproductive health experience.
WORK HOURS
Full-time, 35 hours/week. Hours will include Tuesday through Saturday. This position is eligible for a comprehensive benefits package, including medical/dental/life insurance, PTO and 403B retirement plan.
