ADMINISTRATIVE NURSE SUPERVISOR - ACUTE CARE (NORTHERN NEW JERSEY)

Administrative Nurse Supervisor specializing in Acute Care needed to direct, coordinate and evaluate standard of care provided on evening and
night shifts on assigned units/department to ensure competent nursing care and organizational efficiency.
Plan, direct and coordinate the operations of the Department of Nursing. Manage staff for optimum
performance. Reports to the Vice President of Clinical Services.
This is a Full Time Position.
REQUIREMENTS
• Current New Jersey Nursing License
• Masters Degree preferred
• Certification – Nursing Administration
• Previous proven experience in management position
• BCLS and ACLS certified

•Acts as a role model demonstrating competency in technical skills, clinical judgment and has an
appropriate knowledge base.
•Provides clinical direction to care manager/charge nurse/staff and evaluates level of care provided by
staff.
•Serves as a resource for staff members.
•Demonstrates clinical expertise in the execution of the nursing process and directs staff in its
application.
•Demonstrates an awareness of and adherence to safety and legal requirements established by the
Hospital and Nursing Service.
•Demonstrates an awareness of the necessity to initiate a risk management process.
•Demonstrates knowledge of budgetary constraints and oversees evening / night /day staffing in a
cost-effective manner.
•Attends meetings on nursing and administrative level and serves as a committee member as
assigned.
•Assists Patient Care Directors in monitoring compliance to standards.
•Demonstrates an awareness of hospital and departmental policies and uses them as a mechanism
for decision-making.
•Monitors compliance with regulatory requirements for assigned units.
•Participates in performance improvement activities and acts on non-compliance findings.
•Participates in the interview process, selection, recruitment and hiring of nursing personnel.
•Recommends and/or initiates appropriate disciplinary action to Patient Care Director.
•Utilizes strategies to retain staff.
•Assists Patient Care Directors on assigned units in on-going performance appraisal of staff members
on the evening / night shifts.
•Assists in obtaining current licensure validation evening/night shift personnel.
•Assists In the developmental growth of staff.
•Adjusts daily staffing needs in accordance with established staffing pattems of Nursing Service and
patient needs.
•Demonstrates awareness of updating clinical, technical and management skills.
•Actively defines self-learning needs and assertively identifies methods for maintaining clinical
awareness, management/administrative competency, and involvement in professional
associations.
•Maintains effective communication skills with staff, MDs, patients! families and ancillary
departments.
•Provides written communication of occurrences on evenings/nights for Patient Care Directors NP’s as
appropriate.
•Maintains effective working relationship with the management team and staff.
•Demonstrates effective supervisory skills of delegation, organization and coordination in the
management of assigned units.
•Demonstrates effective problem-solving skills and acts as a resource person and problem solver.
•Exhibits Service Excellence behaviors in everyday inter actions.
•Participates in research through data collection as requested by VP’s.
•Determine staffing requirements; recruit, hire and train new staff.
•Supervise direct reporting staff according to the policies of the Medical Center.
•Delegate work duties to staff.
•Monitor, evaluate and manage staff performance including performance reviews.
•Coach and discipline staff; manage internal staff relations.
ACUTE CARE EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
