NARA NW is an Indian-owned and operated Private, Non-Profit, that provides culturally appropriate education, physical and mental health services, and substance abuse treatment to American Indians, Alaska Natives and other vulnerable people.
Registered Nurse
Provides comprehensive community health nursing services to prevent disease and promote health through the application of critical thinking and the ability to exercise independent judgment: to screen, assess, plan, deliver and evaluate health interventions for individuals and families. The Clinic Nurse provides support and assistance to medical providers and coordinates direct patient care while facilitating patient flow in the clinic.
Provides direct and indirect patient care for the NARA clinic:
Assesses patients for urgency of need and prioritizes by acuity in a professional and friendly manner.
Telephone calls, walk-ins and appointment consultations including blood pressure checks, injections and phlebotomy.
Reads and provides appropriate documentation for TB testing
Performs dressing changes, wound care, and suture removal per provider orders, assists with procedures when needed
Provides Patient education regarding both chronic and acute medical issues
Completes the RN Prenatal intake/ exam, maintains registry and provides case management as needed
Maintains Coumadin registry and titration
Maintains accurate, appropriate and timely documentation in the medical records as needed and required by regulations.
Participates in development and implementation of Quality Assurance procedures.
Collaborates with clinical team regarding needs of clients/patients.
Exhibits the ability to work with patients of various socio-economic backgrounds and temperaments; demonstrates tact, diplomacy and compassion; responds appropriately in emergency and stressful situations; acts as patient advocate
Ensures that all services are delivered in a culturally sensitive manner.
To Qualify:
Licensed as a Registered Nurse with the State of Oregon
BSN
Two years experience in health care
Prior Diabetic Foot Care Training a plus (training may be available upon hire)
Minimum of two years sobriety/clean time for NARA employees in recovery
Ability for all potential hires are required to have background investigation to determine any past history of sexual and child abuse
Ability for all potential hires to pass pre-employment drug screen
Preferred:
Outpatient primary care setting preferred
